Step 1: Meet With Your Treatment Coordinator

Your child’s journey begins with a warm welcome and a thorough consultation. At this first visit, we’ll take photos and digital X-rays to get a clear picture of how their teeth and jaws are developing. You’ll meet with our treatment coordinator, who will guide you through the process and answer any questions. Dr. Minh will then evaluate your child’s smile and bite, looking for any signs of crowding, misalignment, or growth concerns.

Step 2: Dr. Minh Designs a Personalized Smile Plan

After reviewing your child’s photos, X-rays, and dental growth, Dr. Minh will create a clear, personalized roadmap for their smile. This may include treatment recommendations if early intervention is beneficial—or simply a plan to monitor their development over time. No two kids are exactly alike, and neither are their smiles. You’ll leave with answers, options, and peace of mind.

Step 3: Begin Orthodontic Treatment

If early treatment is recommended, we’ll take gentle, age-appropriate steps to guide your child’s dental development. This Phase 1 treatment may include expanders, space maintainers, or limited braces—tools designed to create room, correct bite issues, and support healthy jaw growth.

Step 4: Stay In Observation, Growth, & Guidance

After early treatment, your child will continue in our Growth & Guidance program, where we monitor their dental development through occasional check-ins as they grow. This allows us to track how permanent teeth are coming in, ensure that Phase I results are holding, and determine the ideal time to begin comprehensive treatment in the teen years.

Step 5: Complete The Excelsior Smile As a Teen

Many of the 10 key features that define an Excelsior Smile—like perfect bite alignment, full smile width, and ideal tooth angulation—can’t be fully achieved during Phase I. These refinements are addressed during comprehensive treatment in the teen years, once all permanent teeth have come in.

Because we’ve been monitoring your child’s development closely, we’ll know exactly when to begin and how to complete their smile with precision. Whether it’s braces, aligners, or other tools, this final phase builds on everything we’ve done so far—bringing your child’s smile to its full, confident potential.

Orthodontic Treatment Options for Children

Braces

Traditional braces are a time-tested solution for correcting misaligned teeth. They consist of metal brackets and wires that work together to gradually shift teeth into their ideal positions.

Aligners

Clear aligners offer a discreet and comfortable alternative to braces. Custom-made for your child, these removable trays gently guide teeth into alignment without the need for metal.

Retainers

After braces or aligners, retainers help maintain the new position of teeth. They are essential for ensuring that your child's smile stays beautifully aligned for years to come.

Archwires

Archwires are the thin metal wires that connect the brackets of braces. They play a crucial role in guiding teeth into their proper positions, working in conjunction with the brackets.

Before & After: Confident Smile, Comfortable Bite

This young patient had forward teeth that made it difficult to fully close her lips. With early orthodontic treatment using braces, we aligned her teeth and improved her bite—helping her achieve a balanced profile and a natural, confident smile. Early care can make lasting changes in both function and appearance. Book a free consultation to get started on your child’s transformation!
